Founder Story (EasyRice): Why a Rice Exporter Built AI for Farmers
Phuvin (Founder & CEO of EasyRice) used to export rice from Thailand. He kept seeing the same issue: farmers often got paid less because quality was hard to prove.
Rice grading was mostly manual—slow, subjective, and dependent on experience. Mills had to spend hours checking each batch, and farmers had no clear, trusted way to show the true quality of their grain.
So he built EasyRice: AI-powered rice quality and variety inspection that delivers consistent results in seconds. With a scanner or camera-based setup, mills and exporters can grade rice quickly, objectively, and at scale, turning “opinions” into data.
Now EasyRice is taking the next step. In 2026, the team is building AI for rice breeding—helping develop new rice varieties that can improve quality and yield.
When EasyRice joined our Cohort 7, it became our first investment in a Thai startup.
Today, EasyRice:
Generates ~$70K in monthly revenue
Works with farmers, rice millers, exporters, and importers across Thailand
Is expanding across Asia, including Vietnam, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and India
Is building toward a bigger vision: instant, trusted quality grading for any staple food—plus AI-powered breeding for the next generation of varieties
